Alliance Interinstitutional Postdoc Program
Postdoctoral Opportunities (Health + Life Science Alliance)
I am participating in the Health + Life Science Alliance Interinstitutional Postdoc Program with three cryo-EM-focused postdoctoral opportunities, each jointly supervised with a partner PI at another Alliance institution. The program provides two years of full postdoctoral funding.

Current proposed projects:
Developing next-generation microfluidic vitrification workflows for cryo-EM and cryo-ET (#52)
Partner: Simone Mattei (EMBL)
Structure-guided redesign for deimmunization of ferritin nanoparticle vaccine scaffolds (#10)
Partner: Hedda Wardemann (DKFZ)
In situ identification of membrane proteins using binder-based molecular probes for cryo-electron tomography (#42)
Partner: Julia Mahamid (EMBL)
Application process (summary; see link above for full details):
Candidates may apply based on one of the proposed project outlines or develop an independent research idea aligned with my group’s expertise and that of another Alliance PI.
For each project, I can endorse only one candidate to proceed to the formal Alliance application. Endorsed candidates will, with my support, prepare and submit a full research proposal (~2.5 pages) including project rationale, aims, work plan, interinstitutional contributions, and expected impact.
Interested candidates should contact me by February 27 with a CV, a brief motivation, and a short statement explaining their fit for the chosen project. The final submission deadline is March 31, with interviews taking place in June. Start between August 1, 2026 (earliest) and January 1, 2027 (latest).
A strong CV and solid cryo-EM expertise are essential. Funding is competitive and not guaranteed.
